Ductless Mini-Split Systems

While ductless mini-split systems are known for their efficiency and reliability, they can still run into issues. If you notice your unit is not blowing cold air, making strange noises or leaking water, this can signal the need for professional help. Our technicians are highly trained in servicing all major brands of mini-splits. River City can quickly pinpoint the problem and restore your system to optimal performance, ensuring you continue to enjoy the benefits of quiet and efficient zoned comfort.

Rooftop Unit Repairs

For businesses, a malfunctioning rooftop unit can be a major disruption. If your commercial space is experiencing uneven cooling, a complete system failure or a noticeable increase in your energy bills, your RTU may be in need of repair. Our commercial HVAC specialists are available for emergency repair services to get your business back to a comfortable environment quickly.

Package Systems

Although package systems are self-contained, they’re not immune to problems. If your package unit is struggling to cool your home, frequently cycling on and off or producing unusual odors, it’s a sign that you need professional assistance. These symptoms can indicate various issues, such as a dirty evaporator coil, a refrigerant leak or a faulty blower fan. If your home has a roof with exposed ductwork, a package system may be the ideal choice for you. While they’re somewhat larger than split systems, they’re still a suitable option for homes with limited extra space. Our goal is to restore your unit’s efficiency and reliability, ensuring your home stays cool and comfortable.

Straight Air Conditioning Repairs

These air conditioning units use refrigerant gas to move heat from the inside of a home to the outside, which continuously cools the indoor air. Our certified technicians can accurately diagnose the root cause of the problem and perform the necessary repairs to get your system running smoothly again. River City understands that a broken AC is an emergency, and we’re here to provide prompt and reliable repair services to keep your family cool.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. River City installed our new York HVAC System 7 years ago. It has performed great since day one.
We did opt for the 10-year extended parts/labor warranty.
We've only called them to come out each Spring for an annual checkup.
This Spring while Ryan the technician was doing the checkup he noticed a part starting to fail.
Ryan called his office to get the part ordered and coordinated with me a good day and time to come back to replace it.
On that scheduled day and time Ryan came back and replaced the warranty part.
From calling the office staff to schedule my checkup to Ryan coming out to look at it, everyone was very polite, professional and knowledgeable about my system.
I would highly recommend River City Heating and Air to my family and friends.
Thanks, Steve

Frequently Asked AC Repair Questions in Richmond, VA

What can I expect during an AC repair visit?

When our technician arrives, they’ll perform a comprehensive diagnostic check to identify the issue. They’ll then explain the problem to you and provide a detailed estimate for the repair. Once you approve, they’ll complete the repair efficiently and test the system to ensure it’s working correctly.

Is it better to repair or replace my old air conditioner?

This often depends on the age of your system, the cost of the repair and its overall efficiency. If your AC is over 10-15 years old or the repair cost is more than 50% of the cost of a new unit, it’s often more cost-effective to replace it with a modern, energy-efficient model.

How much does it cost to repair my air conditioner?

The cost of an AC repair can vary widely depending on the problem, the parts needed and the complexity of the job. Our team will provide a thorough diagnosis and a transparent, upfront estimate before any work begins, so you’ll know the cost right away.

How do I know if my AC needs to be repaired?

Look out for common warning signs like your AC not blowing cold air, strange noises (grinding or hissing), unusual odors or a sudden increase in your energy bills. Don’t ignore these signals—addressing them early can prevent a more expensive breakdown.

For reliable AC repairs and installation services, contact us today to get your free quote.

What is the most common reason for an AC to stop working?

While there are many possibilities, some of the most frequent culprits include a dirty air filter blocking airflow, a refrigerant leak or a problem with the fan motor. These issues often cause the system to work harder than it should, leading to a complete shutdown.

Reach out to River City today to get your system expertly diagnosed.

Do you offer emergency AC repair services?
